April 15, 2007 - King of Prussia, PA - The OPUS 12 Foundation is pleased to announce our first two Honorary Members - Dr Vicente H Gracias (University of Pennsylvania) and Dr Michael L Nance (The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia). The addition of our new Honorary Members marks an important step towards broader recognition of the OPUS 12 Foundation as a new force in medical-surgical science research.
May 20, 2007 - King of Prussia, PA - As of Sunday, May 20th of the year 2007, no new Board Membership recruitment will take place. Prospective candidates for the Board of Directors who were contacted prior to that date but did not reply by that date, and who desire to join the Board, will have to apply for consideration through the OPUS 12 Foundation's pre-established Board Member approval process and will have to submit Curriculum Vitae and a personal statement to the Board of Directors for formal consideration. This does not apply to Honorary Board membership, which is by invitation only
June 20, 2007 - King of Prussia, PA - It is our pleasure to announce that the first preliminary Board of Directors briefing was completed today. All members of the Board of Directors have reviewed and approved the OPUS 12 Foundation vision and plans for the period ending September 10, 2007 as well as the long-term strategic OPUS 12 Foundation vision. On September 10, 2007, the Foundation will host the First Annual Chairmanship Transition ceremony as well as the regular Board of Directors meeting. All new scientific project proposals will be presented to the Board and to the Ethics and pre-IRB Committees for approval. In addition, formal recognition ceremony for the Honorary Board Members will take place at that time.
June 29, 2007 - King of Prussia, PA - The OPUS 12 Foundation celebrates the completion of the fourth multi-institutional research review manuscript. July 9, 2007 - The OPUS 12 Foundation is pleased to announce our third Honorary Member - Dr Anthony J Dean. Dr Dean is a prominent member of the Department of Emergency Medicine faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr Dean will be a crucial part of the OPUS 12 Foundation's strategy of expansion beyond surgical research, and towards a goal of an all-encompassing, universal medical-surgical research think tank.
September 10, 2007 - Blue Bell, PA - The Annual OPUS 12 Board Meeting took place. The meeting was a great success, with the agenda including Foundation Bylaws and legal status, future directions, Foundation accomplishments and finances. Chairmanship transition took place, with Dr S. P. Schrag taking over this position. Dr M. J. Seamon became the Vice-Chairman. Also, Honorary Board Members were recognized and a discussion regarding nominations for future Honorary Memberships took place. The meeting adjourned with tremendous amount of progress and new direction clearly delineated for the new year. The Foundation vision now includes a National Meeting within the next 2 years - A reflection of the growing OPUS 12 membership base.
September 28, 2007 - Blue Bell, PA - The President and C.E.O., in conjunction with the Chairman of OPUS 12 Foundation are pleased to announce that the new Bylaws of OPUS 12 Foundation have been approved by the the Board of Directors. OPUS 12 Foundation now includes 20 members in six Chapters across the United States.
December 30, 2007 - Blue Bell, PA - OPUS 12 Foundation announces forthcoming publication of a multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary review article on the use of computed tomographic autopsy techniques in medical and surgical education. The article will be featured in the Journal of Surgical Education. OPUS 12 Foundation now has 9 chapters with 34 members worldwide.
January 4, 2008 - King of Prussia, PA - OPUS 12 Foundation proudly announces the birth of our own on-line, peer-reviewed, indexed journal, OPUS 12 Scientist. OPUS 12 Scientist (ISSN 1940-8633) covers all areas of OPUS 12 Foundation’s research activities and related topics. OPUS 12 Scientist offers fast-track peer review and publication of manuscripts that are judged of importance to clinical practice, research, or training. OPUS 12 Scientist articles are featured/indexed in Google Scholar, ScientificCommons, Index Copernicus, and Public Knowledge Project Open Archives.
February 11, 2008 - King of Prussia, PA - During its semi-annual Board of Directors meeting, the OPUS 12 Foundation made preliminary plans to host the 1st OPUS 12 Annual Scientific Assembly in the second half of 2008. The meeting will include a scientific program and a number of invited speakers. The Board also unanimously approved nominations for our two new Honorary Members - Dr John P. Pryor and Dr. Steven M. Steinberg. OPUS 12 Foundation now has 11 chapters with 37 members worldwide.
February 21, 2008 - Blue Bell, PA - OPUS 12 Foundation's official journal, the OPUS 12 Scientist is now indexed in OpenMED Archives. OpenMED is a discipline-based International Archive and provides search, indexing, and archiving services for accepted journals and articles. OPUS 12 Scientist articles and abstracts are now featured in five major Internet medical literature 'search engines' and are accessible to billions of potential Internet users.
February 24, 2008 - King of Prussia, PA - OPUS 12 Foundation is proud to announce that Dr. Gabriel M. Gurman became the latest Honorary Member of the Foundation's Board. Professor Gurman is an internationally known intensivist and scientist. He is the current Chairman of the Israel Transplant Center. Professor Gurman will assume the position of Director of Transplant Research for OPUS 12 Foundation, as well as the Presidency of the Beer Sheva Chapter of the Foundation.
May 15, 2008 - Philadelphia, PA - The semi-annual meeting of the OPUS 12 Foundation Board of Director took place at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Important strategic plans were set for the Foundation, including the first Scientific Assembly, prospects of funded multi-institutional trials, as well as the joining of Dr Steven M. Steinberg and Dr Michael D. Grossman as OPUS 12 Honorary Members.
October 1, 2008 - Columbus, OH - The OPUS 12 Foundation Science Team announces the debut of OPUS 12 Foundation Internet Wiki sites. Destined to become the resources of choice for medical professionals, these well-designed sites invite potential contributors to add to the collective knowledge already accumulated within them.
February 5, 2009 - Bethlehem, PA - The OPUS 12 Foundation is proud to announce its new President, Dr James Cipolla. Dr Cipolla brings an impressive leadership experience and multitude of new ideas to the Fundation. In addition, Dr Anthony J. Dean became the Chairman of the Foundation and Dr John Chovanes became its Vice-Chairman. The Foundation also proudly announces that its first Scientific Assembly was a great success, and a date for next year's Annual Scientific Assembly will be set, most likely coinciding with another major scientific meeting in 2010.
August 15, 2009 - Columbus, OH - The OPUS 12 Foundation Science Team is pleased to announce that OPUS 12 Foundation has achieved several important milestones, including membership growth to more than 80 members, our 10th PubMed-listed publication, as well as beginning of data collection on our first multi-institutional clinical study.
December 25, 2009 - Columbus, OH - The OPUS 12 Foundation Board of Directors announces the joining of Dr Harry L. Anderson III and Dr Charles H. Cook as Honorary Members of the Board. Dr Anderson is the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and the Director of Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Dr Cook is the Medical Director of Surgical Critical Care and the Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the Ohio State University Medical Center (US News Top 21 Hospitals). We are extremely pleased with this development and we welcome our new Board Members.
December 30, 2009 - Columbus, OH - The OPUS 12 Foundation Board of Directors announces the joining of Dr Jay A. Yelon as an Honorary Member of the Board. Dr Yelon is the Chief of Trauma, Burns, and Surgical Critical Care at the Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. We would like to extend a warm welcome Dr Yelon and look forward to his participation and mentorship within the Foundation.

January 1, 2010 - Columbus, OH - The OPUS 12 Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce our cooperation with the Journal of Emergencies, Trauma, and Shock (JETS), an International, PubMed-listed publication. The OPUS 12 - JETS official sponsorship agreement will open a new era for both OPUS 12 Foundation and JETS. We are also pleased to announce that Dr Sagar Galwankar will be joining our Board of Directors as a permanent representative of JETS and INDO-US Emergency and Trauma Collaborative. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Dr Galwankar, JETS, and the INDO-US Emergency Trauma Collaborative.
